BROMYARD’S Christmas lights switch-on has been hailed an “amazing day”

for the town.

About 2,000 people packed the town square and surrounding streets last Saturday to see the festive lights turned on.

Hundreds of youngsters also enjoyed a Christmas grotto.

“We had a lot of people here – there was no room in the square,” said Councillor Brian Johnson, acting chair of Bromyard and District Chamber of Commerce.

“The weather was good.

We think it was a great success.

“The town was buzzing and local pubs were doing very well.

“It was an amazing day for Bromyard.”

He said the display was organised by the Light Brigade – a group of about 10 volunteers from the town.

“It was all done locally.

We’ve been putting them up for many years now,”

Coun Johnson said.

The lights were switched on by BBC Hereford and Worcester presenter Toni McDonald.
