A TEAM of social workers has been nominated for a top national award after helping people live at home longer with their families.

The Worcestershire County Council team that works in adult social care has been selected as finalists in the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2013 as a result of their outstanding work.

The support planning team has been nominated for the team of the year award for adult services. They will find out if they have won at an awards ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel in London on Friday, November 29.

The team was shortlisted for their work helping individuals to remain living at home with family and community support.

Dr Richard Harling, director of adult services and health for Worcestershire County Council, said: “This nomination is very well deserved and we wish them success at the finals."

There are 49 finalists across 11 categories and winners from each category will compete against each other to be named the overall winner.

Edward Timpson MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families, will provide a special video presentation.
