TWO new pitches have given footballers fields of dreams on which to pursue their sport.
The senior and junior grass pitches at Malvern Vale Community Centre are now officially open for use and ready for sports play after a cutting of the ribbon ceremony was held.
Both underwent a 12- month maintenance period, during which they were seeded, cut and prepared in time for the 2013/14 season.
Councillor Phil Grove, portfolio holder for economic development at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “It’s great to see the grass pitches open for use by local sports groups and the wider community.
“We hope that the new pitches will encourage more young people from the area into sports.”
The centre is owned by the district council and the day to day management, operation, repairs and maintenance are contracted to the Worcestershire YMCA.
The £800,000 development in Swinyard Road was officially opened in January.
