Volunteer drivers wanted
6:00pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
COMMUNITY Action Malvern and District is looking for new volunteer drivers.
The service operates transport services for elderly or disabled people in and around the town, including shopping trips and hospital visits.
Vice-chairman Brian Regimbeau said that in the year to March 2013, Community Action volunteers made 4,429 hospital trips using their own cars. He said: “We have about 100 volunteers who take people to hospital and bring them back, but inevitably, some of our volunteers retire, so we're always on the lookout for new drivers.”
He said that in the same time, Community Action also provided 1,089 single trips in its wheelchair- adapted cars, and a further 704 trips in minibuses and wheelchair cars. The Shoparound service had 1,014 clients, 796 people attended the Sunday tea clubs and the film club at the Cube showed eight movies, attracting 246 filmgoers.
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Community Action on 01684 892381 or email@example.com, or visit its office at 28-30 Belle Vue Terrace.
