New permits now in force
7:00pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in News
NEW permits for using the county’s recycling centres have come into force The permit scheme has been around for a number of years to ensure only household waste, and no commercial or business waste, ends up in the centres.
From Tuesday, residents with a car or trailer more than 1.3 metres in length, a van or pickup, a crew cab pickup or commercial vehicle are able to apply for 12 permits per year, effectively one per month, and once they are used, no more can be applied for.
Any vehicle over 3.5 tonnes or double-axle trailers will not be permitted to the household recycling centres.
Householders with a car or small trailer (less than 1.3 metres in length) will be able to make as many trips as they like throughout the year.
Under the current scheme, householders would apply for eight permits and, once they had been used, were free to apply for more.
