When the going gets tough the tough get going for Three Peaks
1:10pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in News
INTREPID members of Malvern Joggers swapped pounding the pavements for scaling the peaks as they completed the Three Peaks Challenge.
The team – from left, Lynda Broadway, Jude Newman Mike Astley, Marc Bingham and Paul Newman – managed to climb Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon, the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales respectively. It took them 23 hours and 15 minutes. Starting at the foot of Ben Nevis at 5pm, it was pitch black by the time they made their way back down and headed to the Lake District to tackle Scafell Pike.
Arriving at Snowdon, they were delighted to manage to complete their third and final ascent of the exhausting challenge within the 24-hour deadline.
Mr Newman said: “We had all trained hard for this event, Lynda and Mike on Scafell Pike and the Lake District and Jude and I in the Brecon Beacons, but nothing could prepare us.”
