A festival with clear message
A NEW festival celebrating local efforts to protect the environment and promote a sustainable future is taking place in Malvern later this month.
The first Malvern Hills Communities Festival will be held at Malvern Cube, Albert Road North, on Saturday, September 21 and organisers are already planning for the event to become an annual fixture for the town.
It is being organised by members of Transition Malvern Hills, Malvern Hills Repair Café and Malvern Cube.
As well as stalls from charities and organisations including Malvern Hills Fairtrade Group, Malvern Community Forest and Greenpeace, there will be children’s workshops and a host of local professionals on hand to offer advice.
There will also be several talks about local initiatives as well as a presentation entitled Zero Carbon Britain – Rethinking the Future.
One of the event’s organisers, Ginny Lee, said as well as promoting an important message they are hoping to make it a fun day out for people of all ages.
“This is going to be the start of an annual event promoting all the community initiatives that are taking place in and around Malvern,” she said.
“We want to raise awareness of and celebrate lots of local environmental initiatives, particularly the efforts of those individuals, voluntary groups and businesses who are contributing to the sustainability of the Malvern Hills communities.”
The event runs from 10am until 4pm and food will be on offer throughout the day.
Any organisations that would like a stall can call 01684 892581 or email mhcommunitiesfestival@ gmail.com.
