Charity day a hit despite cash theft
6:40pm Tuesday 17th September 2013 in News
ORGANISERS of a fundraising art exhibition are celebrating one of their best ever results – despite having some of their charity takings stolen by “heartless”
As previously reported in the Gazette, almost £200 cash was stolen from a cash box and a donations tin during the final day of the annual Art for Amnesty exhibition in Malvern on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26.
Barbara Struggles, from the Malvern Hills Amnesty International group that organised the event, said it was “absolutely heartless”
for someone to steal from charity.
But she was delighted to report that, despite that disappointment, the exhibition still made a total of £2,078 – the third biggest total in its 13-year history.
She said: “Thanks to all the talented artists and volunteers who gave their skills and time to make this a brilliant week of art and to the public and their support for the work of this important charity.”
