PUPILS at Somers Park Primary School put their cake-making skills to the test during a baker of the year competition.
The school held cake sales throughout the year, including offerings at Halloween, Christmas and Easter. At all of these sales, heats were run and the winners got the chance to bake a cake for the grand final, held at the summer fete.
The final was judged by Lizzy Hughes, of Malvern cookery school Our Lizzie, and the winner was Ellen Staniforth from class 6W, with her hook-a-duck cake.
Runner-up was Emily- Mary Lloyd from class 6E, with her afternoon tea minicakes while Luke Bennett from class 2W was highly commended for his Somers Park sweetie cake.
