6:30pm Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
AN OIL exploration company based near Malvern has been told it has is banned from Argentina’s territory as part of the long-running row over the Falkland Islands.
The Argentinian government this week issued a statement naming Desire Petroleum, whose registered office is in Mathon, as one of four companies banned from the country for the next 20 years.
Desire has been prospecting for oil in the North Falkland Basin.
The Falklands have been British territory since the 1830s but Argentina also claims sovereignty over the islands and surrounding area.
Noone from Desire wished to comment this week, but the company is thought not to have any business interests in Argentina.
