BUSINESSES that attract tourists to Worcestershire will again have their annual chance to shine.
Destination Worcestershire, the official destination management organisation for the county, has launched the 2013 Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence.
Run in association with the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Worcestershire County Council, the awards celebrate the best Worcestershire has to offer across the tourism industry.
Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence replace the former Worcestershire Welcome Awards.
The re-branding will harmonise the county’s official tourism awards with the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
The winner and highly commended for each of the awards categories will not only receive local recognition, but will also have the opportunity to be honoured nationwide, as they remain eligible to enter the VisitEngland Awards.
Mike Ashton, chief executive of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, who manages the Destination Worcestershire contract, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for tourism businesses to celebrate their successes and reward their staff for efforts in providing top quality tourism products or services.”
The awards categories businesses can nominate themselves for are: best tourism experience, best hotel, best bed and breakfast, best self catering, best sustainable tourism, best festival and event, best business tourism and tastes of Worcestershire.
An entry form is available to download at visitworcestershire.
org/awards and must be returned by 9.30am Monday, September 16.
Businesses shortlisted in each category will be invited to the annual tourism conference at Stanbrook Abbey, Callow End on Thursday, October 24, for the Visit Worcestershire Awards For Excellence ceremony.
