A STUDENT from Alfrick will be trekking for eight days in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco to raise money for charity.
Serena Beddoes, aged 20, is a final-year psychology student at University College London, and will take on the challenge to raise money for Sue Ryder.
The charity provides care for people with life-changing illnesses.
She will be hiking across some of the highest peaks in the Atlas Mountains, including the 4,167-metre summit of Mount Toubkal, accompanied by university pals at the end of term in June.
She said: “We fly into Marrakesh and then get on with the trek.
“It’s going to be a great experience and a great finale to my time at university.”
Miss Beddoes has been heavily involved with charity work at university, where she is a committee member of its Raise and Give (RAG) Society, which organises fundraising events.
As team leader for the Morocco group, she has recruited volunteers for the trek and organised a variety of fund-raising events in London such as pub quizzes and cake sales.
She has raised £600 of her £1,100 target and can be sponsored by visiting her fundraising page at uk.virgin moneygiving.com/serenab.
