Hundreds raised for rescued horses
KINDHEARTED people have dug deep and raised £600 to help pay for the care of rescued horses.
Scores of cheques and offers of fund-raising help have come pouring in to help fund the care of three mares and a colt rescued from a field in Sling Lane, Malvern, inFebruary.
Sue Penny, owner of Penny Ha’Penny Horse and Pony Rescue Centre in Leigh Sinton, was overwhelmed after she spoke in last week’s Malvern Gazette aboutthe charity’s stretched budget.
Mrs Penny said: “I can’t thank people enough for their generosity. We are extremely grateful.”
As well as donations, the Gazette’s competition to name two of the rescued horses has also had a good response.
Entries have arrived from as far afield as Chile to provide monikers for the Shetland miniature and Welsh pony.
Anyone wishing to submit an entry should write in to Malvern Gazette Name A Horse Competition, Berrows House, Hylton Road, Worcester,WR2 5JX.
Or, you can email cather ine.phillips@midlands.news quest.co.uk with the subject line Name A Horse.
Entries should also include the sender’s name, address and contact details and make it clear which horse the name is for (Welsh pony/Shetland miniature).
The competition will close on Monday at 10am.
