Slimmer Sue’s sweet success at losing five stone
10:09am Friday 15th March 2013 in News By James Connell
A SUPER slimmer who runs two sweet shops has resisted temptation to shed almost five stone.
Sue Henderson, aged 54, who runs sweet shops called Sweets & Treats in Barnards Green, Malvern, and in Tewkesbury, has lost the weight since last September despite temptation being all around her.
However, even though her shop is full of ‘naughty things’ she said there was also now Slimming World posters and she wanted people battling the bulge to pop in for a chat.
Mrs Henderson, of Birtsmorton, said: “I wouldn’t believe anyone could have so much willpower. I love sweets. Who doesn’tlove sweets?”
When she hit her 50s she carried on putting on weight and she decided she had to do something about it. She has now thrown out her larger clothes and can get into older, slimmerfit clothes.
She said: “There’s no way I’m going back to the way I was. I am a real convert now because I’ve done it. I take some of my customers to Slimming World classes to make sure they go.”
Mrs Henderson, originally from Newcastle uponTyne, now wants to offer support to other people who wantto lose weight.
She says people she has known for years have been walking past her in the street because they donot recogniseher.
She has been following the ‘Slimming World’ eating plan, and encouraged by her consultant Jacky Barnes, has discovered by making a few changes to the way she shops and cooks, she can still eat everyday foods in unlimited amounts and still lose weight. Ms Henderson said: “I used to hold onto a rail to steady myself going upstairs, but since losing the weight, I can now run up them with ease.
“It may sound dramatic, but losing weight has changed my life, I wish I’d done it years ago.”
Jacky Barnes, who became a consultant at the Malvern Christchurch group in September, just a week before Sue joined, has been so inspired by her member’s enthusiasm, commitment and successes, she decided to take over the Malvern Dyson group.
