STORYTELLER Sorcha Cummins, pictured right, enthralled her young audience with tales of ancient Central America at Malvern's newest venue.

Fifty children found themselves transported five thousand miles across the Atlantic, with Ms Cummins’ new production of the Popol Vuh, the sacred text of the Mayan people, at the Re-Con in Church Street.

Ms Cummins, who trained in puppetry with internationally acclaimed theatre company The Fetch, introduced the youngsters to the fantastical creation myths of the indigenous people of ancient Guatemala.

The puppets included an insect-guzzling mud monster, a spindly stick skeleton and a bejewelled dragon.
