AN elderly man with dementia who went missing from his home earlier today has been found safe and well.

Joseph Lilley, aged 76, of Heron Close, off Bromwich Road, Worcester, has been returned to his family.  

There was concern for his welfare after he went missing at about 1pm.

Officers from West Mercia Police thanked the public and media for their assistance in the search for Mr Lilley.

Yes it is news. Good news! What does it matter where he was, who found him or what he was doing? He's safe and the article is advising the general public that there is no need to continue looking out for him.

How could one look out for him in the absence of a photograph or even a description? It would be interesting and, I submit, newsworthy to know where he had been and how he was eventually located.

There was a big news link from West Mercia Police circulated on social media sites which included a description. Luckily the gentleman was found before there was chance to circulate a picture. Lots of people I knew had seen the story. Just because you hadn't seen the information doesn't mean others hadn't.
