Popular Pam retires after 44 years at store
4:20pm Wednesday 27th February 2013 in News
RETIRING: Pam Roberts worked at Francis of Malvern, the popular home store, for 44 years.
PAM Roberts worked for Francis of Malvern for so long, she was almost part of the furniture.
But now the lady who was an ever-present at the home store in Malvern Link for 44 years has decided to retire.
“Although Pam is leaving the business, we know she will still be advising friends and the countless people she knows, on the right furniture to buy, and quite probably, where to find it in our stores,” said the company’s furniture manager John Lunn.
Mrs Roberts, who lives in Malvern, was presented with a gold carriage clock for her service, for which she had been furniture manager for many years and latterly financial director.
“During this time it is true to say she has held the company together through good times and bad, often single handedly,” Mr Lunn said. “Anyone who has worked with Pam knows how tenacious and committed to the company she is.
“Her steely manner, comprehensive knowledge and other attributes have contributed greatly to Francis’s longevity. In her time recessions have come and gone, but throughout she has been the force that has driven the company along, overcoming the troubled periods, and for that the staff are truly grateful to her.
“She will be missed by employees and customers.
Indeed it is difficult to find customers she doesn’t know. You simply can’t replace the likes of her, because people such as Pam don’t come along often.”
