A SELF-CONFESSED novice runner is preparing to run her first half marathon to raise money for disadvantaged children.

Annie Robson, from Malvern, will be tackling the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday, March 17, to raise money for the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.

Mrs Robson has never run this far in her life before and said that before joining the Malvern Joggers two years ago she “couldn’t have run to the end of the road”.

But she is determined to complete the challenge in aid of a cause very close to her heart.

“As I have worked for the Connexions service in Malvern for the last 10 years I can empathise with this work (done by the Legacy Trust) and see how important it is for young people to have positive role models,” she said.

A fund-raising quiz night in support of her efforts is taking place at the Gloster Arms pub, in Malvern Link, at 5.30pm on Sunday.

This is for teams of four and entry costs £2 per person.

There will also be a raffle with prizes donated by a host of local businesses, as well as a signed book by Dame Kelly Holmes donated by the charity itself.

Anyone who would like to donate a raffle prize or offer their support can do by e-mailing Annie at Arobson1506@hotmail.co.uk
