A ROW of trees in Victoria Park have been cut down after being allowed to grow much bigger than planned.
The trees were cut down on Wednesday afternoon but one resident said the site now looked “hideous”.
The resident, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s so barren and bare.
“I heard they are planning to cut the rest down, it just looks hideous.
“Where’s all the greenery gone in Malvern Link?”
But a spokeswoman for Malvern Town Council, which manages the park, said the conifers were planted about 40 or 50 years ago initially to form a hedge, but were allowed to develop into far larger trees leaving them in a very poor condition.
The council plans to replace the trees with native fastigiate hornbeams later in the year.
