A new date for the final event of the Young Poet Laureate 2013 competition has been announced.

The event was originally planned to take place on January 25 but had to be postponed due to snow and ice. It will now take place on March 24, at 4pm at Number 8 Community theatre in Pershore. The cost to attend is £6.

There are 15 finalists in the competition, including young people from Redditch, Bromsgrove and Droitwich.

It is run by Worcestershire County Council Libraries and Learning, Arts and Children Services.

An expert panel will be looking for someone with a unique talent for poetry who will not only embrace the role of Worcestershire's Young Poet Laureate but also promote poetry to others. As well as taking the admired title of Worcestershire's Young Poet Laureate 2013, the winner will receive a trophy.

They will also be able to call upon the knowledge and support of their own poetry mentor, who will help them throughout their time as the Young Poet Laureate.
