Road closed after man taken ill Road closed after man taken ill

A MAIN road was closed in both directions after a person was taken ill in their car.

Police and the ambulance service were called to the A449 Wells Road, near Eaton Road in Malvern at around 12.40pm today.

A police spokesman said the person had been travelling along Wells Road when they were taken ill, and pulled over.

He confirmed there had been no collision and there were no suspicious circumstances.

An spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to a medical incident.

An ambulance and two rapid response vehicles were sent to the scene and a patient was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Hope the person gets better quickly but why close the road?

Probably due to the helicopter I guess.

Maybe he was highly contagious...

The story deosn't mention anything about the air ambulance being on scene. The photo is probably one from the WN library and not related to the incident. The road was probably closed for everyones safety getting the man out of the car and transferred into the ambulance. If he was unconscious (it doesn't say he was but he may have been) then it would involve crews being in the middle of the road to get him out of the car. So far safer to close the road until they've finished.
