THE former chairman of Malvern Town FC has presented £4,283 to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Paul Pallett, aged 69, of Droitwich, raised the cash by holding a sponsored walk. He had the disease diagnosed last July.

His son Dan Pallett, a former sports reporter for our sister paper the Worcester News and now a BBC TV presenter, said: “Dad decided he wanted to give something back to those who helped him, and to try to help others so he organised the four-mile walk around Droitwich, which began with family and a few friends and snowballed to 100 people.”

Mr Pallett, as well as chairing Malvern Town FC, has helped to manage the first team, reserves and youth team since the late 1990s. He was running the reserves until November when he stepped down.

As well as the money raised from the sponsored walk, £400 was donated by a quiz team at the Red Lion, Droitwich, Mr Pallett’s local pub, and Malvern Town raised £700 with a charity match.
