Health campaigners present petition
12:10pm Saturday 9th February 2013 in News
CAMPAIGNERS have welcomed feedback from leading GPs about the future of county health services.
Last week a group of residents from Worcestershire, including three Malvern patients, attended the first board meeting of the South Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, the group now taking over the purse strings of NHS care.
The group presented a petition signed by 889 people about their concerns.
The petition read: "Our NHS is precious and we are relying on you to protect it. Please do all you can to stop local health services being broken up to taken over by irresponsible private companies.
Protect local NHS services and consult patients properly before making changes. Spend money wisely and don't do deals with irresponsible private companies. Adopt policies and a constitution which reflects these values."
Richard and Veronica Edwards of Moorlands Road, Malvern wrote to your Malvern Gazette: “The response of the board was receptive and encouraging but it is necessary that local residents add their concerns to ours that we want a health service which is integrated, not fragmented, and predominantly run by the NHS.
You can express your views through your local GP practice manager."
