Rabbi talks about life

A LEADING rabbi was the special guest at Great Malvern Priory’s latest Lunch Box meeting.

Rabbi Yossi Jacobs, of Singers Hill Synagogue, Birmingham, talked to congregation members about the life journey of a young rabbi.

He described how, as a five year old in Glasgow, he decided to train as a rabbi.

Having a father who was a rabbi gave him a close understanding of what was required and he undertook training from his early teens.

He was only 15 when he was invited to take the Jewish New Year service at a local synagogue and was appointed to Singers Hill at the early age of 23.

Following a vote of thanks by Christine Sutton, Rabbi Jacobs was presented with some mementos of Malvern including Holywell Water by Rhys Humm, a History of Malvern by Brian Iles, the Priory Guide by Katherine Wells and Malvern’s Churches by John Dixon.
