The Met Office has put some parts of the West Midlands on a yellow warning for rain tomorrow:

Further rain will spread northeastwards across Wales and South West England early on Tuesday, becoming heavy and persistent in places before clearing again overnight.

Given saturated ground, the public should be aware that further localised flooding and disruption to travel is likely.

The heaviest and most persistent rain is expected over Wales and southwest England with accumulations of 20 to 30mm expected widely, especially over higher ground.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service s encouraging people to take care on the roads after being called to several flood-related incidents yesterday evening  in the Eardisley area.

Water First Responders from Leintwardine were called to reports of a woman stranded in her car in floodwater along the A438 near Willersley at 6.40pm, and the crew managed to push the vehicle out of the water to safety.

Crews from Eardisley and Leintwardine, including Water First Responders, were then called at 7.55pm to Letton, near Eardisley, where they rescued seven people from three vehicles stuck in flood water.

Just after 9.20pm, Water First Responders from Leintwardine rescued an elderly woman who was trapped in her car in flood water in Kinnersley.

Station Commander Alan Haley said: “With ice and melting snow, heavy rain forecast and several flood warnings in place across the two counties, it’s vital that motorists stay alert and take extreme care on the roads.”

He urged people to keep an eye on their local news and weather reports, and to heed any road closure or flood warnings they come across as they are driving. He also reminded people not to attempt driving through floodwater as there could easily be potholes or open drains hidden below the water.

The Environment Agency has sent operatives to Kempsey, near Worcester, to make sure the flood defence pump is working properly.

The pump's sensor, which is supposed to work automatically, failed during wet weather in November, causing part of the village to be flooded. 

Since then, the agency has sent staff to mind the pumping station each time the river rises, to make sure the pump works properly.

THE A443 Hylton Road at Worcester will be closed from from 12.30pm to 2pm to allow the installation of pumping equipment.

THE Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the River Severn at Callow End and Court Meadow, Kempsey.

At 8.45am yesterday, the level at the Kempsey Gauge was 6.07 metres and rising slowly. A peak level of between 6.3 and 6.6 Meters is expected to occur on Tuesday.

The level at the Saxons Lode Gauge was 4.53 metres and rising. A peak level of between 4.6 and 5 metres is expected to occur on Tuesday.

The pumping station and scheme at Kempsey is operating normally.

The Met Office is reporting a bright start to today, but as the morning goes on, cloud, outbreaks of rain and strengthening winds will spread from the west, with rain turning heavy in places.

Tonight will remain windy, particularly at first, with rain quickly clearing south and some clearer spells developing. It will turn cloudier again through the early hours, with rain spreading from the south.

On Tuesday, outbreaks of rain will continue through the day, perhaps turning heavy at times with strong southwesterly winds. Clearer conditions will gradually spread from the north overnight.

Wednesday and Thursday will be windy with clear spells and blustery showers, heavy at times. Friday will be colder with outbreaks of rain, most persistent and heavy at times in the south.

Worcestershire County Council reports the following road closures due to flooding this morning.

They are the B4088 at Eckington Bridge, the C2022 Jubilee Bridge at Fladbury and Severnside North at Bewdley where flood barriers have been erected.
