Bikers brave the cold for charity

DONATIONS: Frozen Toes Charity Bike Ride organiser Darrall Young, centre, with St Paul’s Hostel residents Aaron Coleman, left, and Iain Barrowman.
BIKERS braved freezing conditions to make life a little easier for Worcester’s homeless community.
Dozens of riders took to two wheels and travelled in convoy from the Quatt Cafe, near Bridgnorth, to St Paul’s Hostel in Tallow Hill for the Frozen Toes Charity Bike Ride.
They brought with them bags of warm clothing and food donations for the city’s winter night shelter scheme, which runs between November and March.
Darrall Young, who organised the ride, said: “A lot of the bikers here are always doing charity things and homelessness seemed to spark a bit of interest.
“To us, a pair of socks are just socks, but they’re a vital thing to those who have nothing.”
Sarah Tranter, a resettlement worker for Worcestershire Homeless Intervention Team, said the donations were a lifeline.
She said: “The night shelter wouldn’t be able to work without donations.”
