Video: Keith the seal grabs a bite to eat in Bewdley

HUNGRY: Keith enjoys his meal HUNGRY: Keith enjoys his meal

AN EAGLE-eyed schoolgirl has filmed Worcestershire’s most famous flippered visitor grabbing a quick bite to eat.

Seven-year-old Coco Moretti, from Bewdley, caught Keith on camera wrestling an enormous fish when she spotted the critter tucking into her dinner in the town’s river on Friday.

The footage was posted on video sharing website YouTube and has since attracted nearly 2,500 views.

Proud mum, Lizzie Moretti, said it was a “privilege” to see Keith in action.
She said: “[Keith] looked to healthy. We followed her from the rowing club, down under the bridge and she popped up by where the old bandstand used to be.

“My colleague sent me a text to say [Keith had] been seen and we drove up to see if we could find her.

“She was stunning, so beautiful. It was quite a privilege to see her. It’s not often you get to see something like that. We’re quite lucky in Bewdley but a seal is something quite different.

“Coco loved it. We got some other videos as well and we put that one on [YouTube] just because we thought people might want to see it.

“Her headmaster played it on a big screen for everybody in assembly.”

Keith continues to cause a stir among Worcestershire’s wildlife fans two months after she was first spotted in the Severn at Powick

The seal, who was named after a Royalist commander in the English Civil War, has been sighted making herself at home Worcester, Upton, Stourport and Bewdley.

Last week, we revealed she may have brought a companion with her to enjoy Worcestershire’s scenic riverside when two seals were spotted “oinking” at each other in Hanley Castle, near Upton.

Funny thing, A seal catches and kills a fish and it is regarded as cute. A dog catches and kills a fox and all sorts of indignation breaks loose.

New kid on the block.... That's a brave comparison. I so agree with you, I'm ducking for shelter now!

I think the Ledbury Hunt should get a seal... I hear their eagle owl was eaten by the hounds. The seal might last longer.

Not that funny really; one is nature at work, the other is rich people having some kind of grotesque 'fun'.

It always amazes me when people continue to fall for the old propaganda line that the only people who go hunting are rich Toffs.
The next thing is usually comments about red Coats.
