Boutique owner awarded annual business award
8:00pm Wednesday 9th January 2013 in News By Robert Hale
THE Bromyard boutique Wardrobe has been named winner of the 2012 Annual Business Award made by the town’s chamber of commerce.
Until recently, the shop occupied premises in the Market Square, but owner Paula Bell felt it was out of the way, so when the chance came up to move into a larger and more central shop in Broad Street, she jumped at the opportunity.
She started the business from home at Kinnersley, near Hayon- Wye, and in spite of her remote location, built up a good customer base in the Malvern and Bromyard area.
Three-and-a-half years ago, she took the big step of opening the original shop, and her following has gone from strength to strength.
She said: “I’ve found customers are more likely to call in and browse at the Broad Street shop. There’s more room here so the surroundings are more spacious and relaxing. I’m not looking to expand further now.
We’re happy as we are and of course very happy to have found a home in Bromyard."
Geoff McGladdery, chairman of Bromyard and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “This is a great business and really adds something for shoppers in Bromyard – we are lucky to have a shop of this quality in our small town.
“At a time when high streets are struggling, it is wonderful to have a business which is successful and expanding.”
