Assisted living flat plans for rural site
10:30am Wednesday 9th January 2013 in News
A RURAL site on the edge of Upton has been earmarked for development as a state-ofthe- art hydrotherapy and physio centre, as well as assisted living apartments for elderly people.
St Cloud Care has submitted a planning application to build on a brownfield site that forms part of its existing The Boynes Nursing Home, in Upper Hook Road.
It wants to build a “courtyard- type development” that would be primarily singlestorey, with some first-floor dormered bedrooms, and says it would achieve a “modern building that will complement its surroundings”.
Upton Town Council has given the plan its backing although neighbours have expressed concerns about additional traffic and drainage arrangements.
Neighbouring South Worcester Shooting Ground is also asking for a condition that The Boynes has to accept the presence of the ground.
Malvern Hills District Council is expected to make its decision by mid-February.
