Feeling flat after Christmas? Join our pancake race
8:00am Wednesday 9th January 2013 in News By Tarik Al Rasheed
WITH Christmas behind them, members of Malvern Rotary Club are already turning their attentions to preparations for the return of their annual pancake race.
Teams of four of all ages and abilities are now being invited to sign up for the sixth annual fundraising event, which will be taking place at Priory Park, in Great Malvern, between 12.30pm and 2pm on Tuesday, February 19.
Colourful costumes are actively encouraged and there will be prizes for the team with the best fancy dress, the team that raises the most sponsorship and the best teams in both the “elite”
(average age under 50) and “veteran”
(over-50) categories.
The event is once again being sponsored by Waitrose and entry costs £20 per team. Participants are asked to raise their own sponsorship money.
Rotarians are hoping to repeat the success of last year’s event, which raised a new record of more than £2,500 for charity.
This year 50 per cent of sponsorship raised will go to local Rotary causes and the organisation’s End Polio Now campaign, with teams able to nominate the other 50 per cent they raise to their own individual causes.
Teams running on behalf of local charities will be able to retain 100 per cent of their sponsorship.
To enter a team, call 01684 575879 or pick up an entry form from The Splash, Malvern Tourist Information Centre or Malvern Library.
