Get in touch with the spiritual you at group

A NEW group for people who are “spiritual but not necessarily religious” is being launched in Malvern.

The initiative is being started up by Peter Knight and Julie-Ann Watson, two Anglican priests in Malvern, who say they frequently come across people looking for meaning and purpose but who are not necessarily looking to turn to organised religion.

The group is holding its first meeting at St Matthias Primary School hall, in Cromwell Road, Malvern Link, at 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Rev Knight said he expected it to be an opportunity for people to share thoughts, hopes, ideas and experiences, as well as an opportunity for quiet reflection, meditation and contemplation.

He said: “We are convinced that everyone has a spirituality.

How much people are in touch with this aspect of themselves varies a great deal from person to person.

“But every day we encounter people who are looking for meaning and purpose; people who have a sense of their deeper inner life and are hungry for nourishment, enrichment and company for the journey. Please be assured that this is for real. It is not a cunning plan for drawing people to church.

“Although we are initiating this, we don’t see ourselves as leaders in it, but as among those who will benefit and enjoy.”

Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is free, although donations towards cost will be welcomed.
