Bromyard favourites for the title
LEDBURY Lions are the new leaders of the Brewin Dolphin Malvern Table Tennis League Division Two following two victories.
The first was a keenly contested 6-4 win against Manor Park Travellers and the second was a 9-1 drubbing of Manor Park Allsorts.
No player was unbeaten against the Travellers, while Richard Smith and Neville Meredith won all their games against the Allsorts, but Steve Meredith lost to Craig Preece.
The Lions also met the side they replaced at the summit, Bromyard Allsorts, but it was the former table-toppers who claimed a 6-4 victory.
The game of the match was between Mike Morgan for the Lions and Bromyard's Paul Smyth with Morgan coming out on top 11-9, 11-13, 11-7, 17-15.
Bromyard are just two points behind the Lions with a game in hand and following this result look favourites to win the title.
YMCA Vulcan's finished their campaign with a 9-1 win over relegated Manor Park Maulers. Chris Hughes and Jim Ahern were unbeaten and joined up to win the doubles.
Ray Davies beat John Cawtha in five sets to gain the Maulers only victory.
In the Vulcan's second match they went down 7-3 to Manor Park Travellers with five games going the distance.
The closest game of the match was a win for Vulcan's Chris Hughes beating Stew-art Moss 8-11, 11-7, 11-13, 14-12, 11-8.
Crackpots E' kept their challenge for third place on track with a 7-3 win against the Hop Pickers. Six games went to five sets but Crac-kpots won four of them to secure the points. Colin Dolding won all his games for Crackpots and joined James Palmer to win the doubles.
