THE Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is bringing its major revival of Neil Simon’s award-winning comedy, Barefoot in the Park, to Malvern Theatres.

Starring and directed by Olivier award-winner Maureen Lipman, Barefoot in the Park follows a couple’s chaotic quest to live in newly-wedded bliss.

Corrie and Paul have just moved into their cold apartment.

Their building seems to be populated by unusual characters, the most bohemian being Victor.

The newly-weds’ troubles come to a head when Corrie tries playing Cupid between Victor and her lonely mother and after a disastrous dinner party she learns that walking barefoot in the park may not necessarily denote joi de vivre.

Lipman stars as Mrs Banks.

The acclaimed stage actress has starred in the West End plays See How They Run (for which she won an Olivier Award), Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

She also directed Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh.

Joining Lipman on stage is Oliver Cotton, who has worked extensively at the RSC, the Royal Court and in London’s West End, where he has starred in plays including The Homecoming by Harold Pinter, Children of A Lesser God by Mark Medoff and An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde.

The cast also includes Faye Castelow and Dominic Tighe.

Barefoot in the Park is at Malvern Theatres between Monday and Saturday, April 9-14. Tickets start from £17.50 from 01684 892277 or malvern-theatres.co.uk.
