THE Artrix has been given an early tenth birthday present as the town's MP Sajid Javid secures it a county council grant.

The venue has been handed a grant for £30,000 to support the venue’s fundraising and marketing activities during 2015 to 2016.

In April, the Artrix will be celebrating its first decade in Bromsgrove and both Mr Javid and Ros Robins, interim Artrix director, are encouraging people to get involved with the celebrations on Saturday, April 25.

Ms Robins said: ‘We’re delighted to receive a cheque from Worcestershire County Council and would like to thank the council and Sajid Javid for his help in securing these funds to support fundraising and marketing activity at Artrix.

"To mark our 10th birthday this year we’re launching a 10th birthday fundraising campaign and are asking for donations to support our work for young people, the replacement of equipment and programmes of new work in the Studio."

Mr Javid called Artrix a "central part of our community" and said it was right that all levels of local Government were supporting its growth into independence.

"I hope as many people as possible will join in Artrix's tenth birthday celebrations next month.

"Let's support this brilliant facility as it enters its second decade in our town’.
