In what will be remembered as one of the more surreal television moments of 2015, Mick and Shirley Carter will be seen shouting “Craig Revel Horwood!” at a tree in EastEnders.

However, the acerbic Strictly Come Dancing judge will not be making a cameo appearance in the soap alongside Danny Dyer and Linda Henry, who play landlord Mick and his mum.

Instead, it’s all down to Carmel Kazemi (Bonnie Langford) and her return to Albert Square with her cat, who is named after a certain choreographer on her favourite TV programme.

EastEnders producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins explained: “She’s a big Strictly fan, and it will lead to an amazing scene where you will get Danny Dyer and Linda Henry shouting ‘Craig Revel Horwood’ trying to coax a cat down from a tree.”

In the park, Mick and Shirley secretly meet, but get more than they bargained for when Craig ends up stuck.

Mother and son have been attempting to rebuild their relationship, but neither feels comfortable about revealing what is going on to other members of their family.

Craig’s situation puts a spanner in the works because Carmel is afraid of heights, so Shirley is forced to get Craig down.

But will Carmel keep quiet about spotting Shirley and Mick together?

This episode will air on BBC One on November 10.
