NEW York Blues Hall of Fame singer-songwriter Sari Schorr brings her blustery, powerhouse vocals to the Huntingdon Hall in Worcester, for what organisers describe as “an emotionally charged night of rocking blues”.

A spokesman said: “Native New Yorker Sari Schorr is the new undisputed female rising star of blues rock, and with a voice that jolted legendary blues producer Mike Vernon ,whose credits include Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton and David Bowie, out of retirement, it’s not hard to see, or hear, why.

“Her Mike Vernon produced debut album A Force of Nature hit No.1 in the UK, was the highest new entry on the UK Official Jazz and Blues album charts, and saw Sari nominated for two European Blues Awards: Best Album and Best Singer. The critically acclaimed album features legendary blues guitarist Innes Sibun (formerly of Robert Plant’s band), alongside Walter Trout (John Mayall, Canned Heat), Oli Brown (RavenEye) and keyboardist John Baggott (Massive Attack, Portishead), and delivers hard-driving blues-rock, influenced by the late ‘60s British Blues movement.”

The spokesman added: “Several years of touring the world with blues legend Joe Louis Walker and renowned guitarist Popa Chubby granted Sari notoriety and induction to the New York Blues Hall of Fame, but it was the first leg of her celebrated UK/European and US tour that really catapulted Sari and her electrifying band The Engine Room into the spotlight.

“Sari mixes blues, rock, and soul with concrete melodies and poetic lyrics to striking effect. And that’s not to mention ‘that voice’.

“Sari’s blustery vocals and emotionally charged performances have led to her being described by many blues pundits as modern day hybrid between Janis Joplin and Tina Turner: a red-hot blues mama who radiates emotional intensity.”
