Crazy for You began life over 80 years ago originally as Girl Crazy a smash hit in the 1930's, the last of George and Ira Gershwin's musicals. Some 60 years later it was rewritten for modern audiences and renamed by Ken Ludwig and director Mike Ockrent.

This energetic Watermill Theatre production is all singing, all dancing with the music played live on stage by talented actor-musicians who can all sing and dance too.

Tom Chambers as Bobby is the New Yorker who yearns to tread the boards whilst his fiancee Irene is desperate to get him up the aisle, although working for his mother's bank the domineering lady has other ideas. The story is set around a theatre in New York which he is forced to leave to collect  debts from the failing theatre in Dead Rock, Nevada where he falls in love with rough and ready cowgirl Charlotte Wakefield (Polly) who sparkles throughout commanding the stage, a tremendous talent the star of the show.

Tom Chambers of Casualty and Strictly fame is a fine performer who delivers numerous accomplished tap dancing routines also bringing plenty of fun into the proceedings watch out for his rope acrobatics.

Crazy for You is topped off with Gershwin's classics that include Embraceable You, I Got Rhythm, They Can't Take That Away From Me, Stiff Upper Lip, Shall We Dance and plenty more.

Hugely entertaining, runs until Saturday, 14th October at the Bristol Hippodrome.
