Oh what it must have been like to have been a Teenager in Love in the rock 'n' roll era, the action takes place in the early sixties somewhere in Essex with all of the music played and sung live on stage.

Writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran take us on a journey of nostalgia inspired by the hit compilation of the same name that features over 40 of the best known songs.

The set is a backdrop  of iconic advertising and celebrity images from back in the day creating the perfect environment to ensure those memories come flooding back.

The show is dominated by young, multi talented vibrant performers superbly led by Bobby (Alistair Higgins) and naive and geeky Laura (Elizabeth Cater) who shines throughout with her fantastic voice.

There is a freshness and innocence of the music in which the key characters Norman (Alastair Hill), Sue (Laura Darton), Ray (David Luke) and Donna (Gracie Johnson) all get the opportunity to sparkle. It would be unfair not to mention Johnny Johnson as the Older Bobby who more than held his own.

The entire cast were full of energy with the band fully integrated into the show with the two female saxophonists playing and jiving their way through, a real treat.

Dreamboats and Petticoats is lighthearted, boy meets girl stuff that is simply great fun!

Hey Baby, whether you want to be Bobby's Girl or a Dream Lover book your tickets now.

The show is at the Bristol Hippodrome until Saturday, 29th July.
