Back in the day its 4th December 1956 when Sun Records producer Sam Phillips (Jason Donovan) brings together Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for one night only. Sam maybe the man who created rock 'n' roll.

Set in the recording studio in Memphis Tennessee Sam narrates his way through how he discovered the guys cleverly leading into the songs and also sharing some of his life, he sold the rights to Presley to RCA.

True love never runs smoothly, Johnny Cash dreads telling Sam he is signing for a rival record company, Elvis has upset Carl as he has performed his song Blue Suede Shoes on television and new boy in town Jerry Lee Lewis is upsetting everyone with his over exhuberant style and manner.

Casting Director David Grindrod has pulled together a wonderful group of talented musician/actors who all play their own instruments on stage recreating the magic of a bye gone era.

Elvis girlfriend Dyanne (Katie Ray) let her vocals rip with two magnificent solo numbers. Martin Kaye as Jerry Lee Lewis is worth the admission price alone, with fingers as fast as lightening, a thunder bolt who is an explosion of energy and humour, what a finale his Whole Lotta Shakin' had the theatre rocking - the star of the show.

Million Dollar Quartet is entertaining as it brings together four of the biggest names in music, their harmonies on Peace in the Valley  and Down by the Riverside were superb.

Runs until Saturday, 3rd December at the Bristol Hippodrome.
