Sir Willard White in Malvern

SIR Willard White, one of the world’s leading singers, will be performing in Verdi’s Requiem in Malvern next month.

A seasoned performer at opera houses throughout the world Sir Willard will perform the solo bass part in the Requiem. The concert is at Malvern Theatres on Saturday, February 12, and starts at 7.30pm and runs for 90 minutes without an interval.

Verdi’s Requiem was written in memory of the poet and novelist Allessandro Manzoni and was first performed in Milan cathedral in 1874. The work is one of the grandest and most imposing in the choral repertoire with two choirs and a large orchestra, as well as four solo singers. The concert will be conducted by Christopher Monks, whose Armonico Consort has already performed such choral favourites as Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio to sell-out audiences in Malvern.

Tickets for the concert cost £17.50. Call Malvern Theatres on 01684 892277.
