Vanbrugh Quartet at The Forum in Malvern

MALVERN Concert Club will present the RTE Vanbrugh Quartet, one of Europe’s most successful ensembles, at a concert at Malvern Theatres on Thursday, November 11.

Winner of the 1988 London International String Quartet Competition and now in their 24th concert season the Quartet is internationally renowned for its beauty of sound, clarity of texture and integrity of interpretation within a wide and varied repertoire.

The Vanbrugh Quartet plays at festivals and broadcasts frequently for BBC Radio 3 and performs regularly at London’s Wigmore Hall South Bank.

The Quartet has been the resident quartet with Radio Telefis Eireann, Ireland’s national broadcasting service, for the last 24 years. It has recorded more than 20 CDs, including the complete Beethoven Quartets, two of which will be performed at the concert in Malvern.

The audience will hear two of the six late quartets written towards the end of the composers life, the C Sharp Minor op. 131 and the B Flat major op. 130 with its original gigantic Grosse Fuge finale.

The concert is in The Forum and the performance starts at 7.30pm. Single tickets for non-members are on sale priced £15 for adults, concessions £14 and students £5 from Malvern Theatres on 01684 892277.
