THERE will be a Joe Meek Music Festival in Newent this weekend to celebrate his contribution to the sixties music scene.
On Saturday (October 16) there will be an exhibition about Joe’s music career around the town, with classic cars and bikes on display and films about Joe and his band showing in the memorial hall. There will also be stalls selling sixties-related memorabilia, clothing, music and jewellery.
On Saturday evening at Newent Community School John Leyton will be performing supported by The Flames and there will be a set from Solent City Sound, complete with a visual film backdrop. The evening starts at 7pm and there is a licenced bar. Tickets cost £12 on the door.
