IS it time to find your voice and line up with a choir?

If so, then a timely opportunity may well be on the horizon.

A special free event, called appropriately enough "Find Your Voice", is being planned by the Malvern Male Voice Choir (MMVC) and The Choirs of Holy Trinity Church, Malvern.

It will be led by Douglas V Watts, a voice practitioner, singer and conductor from Bristol, and the event includes performances by Malvern Male Voice Choir and the Choirs of Holy Trinity.

Douglas Watts originally hailed from Ledbury; he was an MMVC member for a few years and studied music at Hereford Sixth Form College and Bristol University.

A spokesman said: "It is a real privilege to have Douglas returning to Malvern to lead an imaginative event like this. He has tremendous energy, enthusiasm and patience; his engaging approach, in which everything is done by ear, helps those who probably don’t read music to enjoy their singing and the harmonies that come out of it.

"Douglas is a huge believer in the benefits of singing for wellbeing, and encourages vocal techniques to be used in everyday life, rooted in confidence, stability and vocal health. He teaches a huge variety of types of music, including three and four part harmony pieces, and ranging from 1920s Swing to modern rock and pop."

The free admission for the event includes refreshments; all ages, male and female are encouraged to come along.

The date for the diary is Saturday March 4, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Link Top, Worcester Road, Malvern.
