PEOPLE are being asked to enjoy Mumbo-Jumbo at the Malvern Cube, and they can pay what they like for the privilege.

The piano-led, close-harmony singer songwriting acoustic trio, known as Mumbo-Jumbo, will be bringing their Troubadours and Raconteurs show to the Malvern, for an unusual ‘pay what you think we’re worth’ performance.

A spokesman said: "Playing regularly across the country at festivals, blues and folk clubs and village hall shows, eclectic double British Blues Awards nominees Mumbo-Jumbo not only create excellent, interesting songs with three lead voices, but also utilise a whole flock of instruments including piano, accordion, bass, trumpet, ukulele, guitar, washboard, kazoo and percussion.

"They have chosen Malvern to test out the 'Pay What You Think it’s Worth' idea, which means that folks come to the gig for free and then decide what they want to pay at the end."

The spokesman added: "Cube gigs are normally between £8-10 up front, but the band wants to see if, by getting people along to check out the show for free, they might attract a bigger crowd who each decide, at the end of the night, what is a fair price for the entertainment they have received."

Mumbo-Jumbo sits somewhere between blues, folk and jazz with tinges of reggae "and whatever else takes their fancy on the night".

The spokesman added: "With songs about old soldiers, baldness and the joy of life the guys bring humour and fun to the performance."

The date for the diary is Saturday, February 11, from 8pm.
