ORGANISERS of a new music festival are hoping to attract a diverse audience.

WuStock, run by the team behind Worcester Rock City, could pull in a mix of families, teenagers and students on Saturday, April 21 at Christopher Whitehead Language College.

The event will be headlined by Toploader, who are perhaps most famous for their top-10 hit Dancing in the Moonlight.

They have two million album sales to their name and feature the unique and recognisable vocals of lead singer Joseph Washbourn along with Dan Hipgrave, Matt Knight and Rob Green.

Organiser Samuel Bacon said: “We wanted a big name to grab the interest and then have quality local support because it makes people aware of what else is out there.

“It’s a community festival, so we wanted a place that was family friendly. We are trying to get a cross section of people coming along.”

Also on the bill are Worcester pop-rockers Scarlet Carmina, who make their return to the stage after an 18-month hiatus.

They are joined by Malvern’s Tallulah Fix, who describe their music as a special genre of blunge which evokes the spirit of blues with a dash of grunge. Many more to be announced, including the winner of the battle of the bands competition.

Doors open 3.30pm and the music starts at 4pm.

Tickets are available at £10 on the 24-hour ticketline 07866788124 or from Music City on the Tything, Four Leaf Clothing in New Street and Rise in CrownGate.
