A HEARTFELT tribute to the late Eva Cassidy will be played out on stage at The Swan Theatre this week.

Over The Rainbow, the Life Story of Eva Cassidy, has enjoyed sell-out performances and standing ovations throughout the UK and Ireland and it comes to Worcester on Wednesday and Thursday.

The award-winning musical follows Eva’s life through a mix of dramatic scenes and live renditions of more than 27 of her songs, including a haunting interpretation of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Described as sad but ultimately uplifting, the show follows her journey from her idyllic childhood in a musical family, to her studio work with boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo and from the exuberant live recording of Blues Alley to her tragic and premature death at the age of 33.

Sarah Jane Buckley, who starred in Hollyoaks as Kathy Barnes, takes the lead as Eva Cassidy, with Pauline Fleming, a regular in soaps such as Brookside and Coronation Street, playing her mother Barbara.

They are joined by BBC's Any Dream Will Do finalist Rob Mcveigh as Eva’s brother Danny and West End actor Robert Grose as the larger-than-life Chuck Brown.

Tickets are £17.50 (£16 concessions).
