LOOKING After Edward, a film made in and around Malvern and featuring local children is being premiered at the Rogers Theatre at Malvern College tomorrow, Saturday, October 2.

The film is about a four-year-old girl who loses her grandfather, an old teddy bear and a reclusive old woman, who helps the little girl come to terms with her grandfather’s death.

The film has been made by Alex Horsfall, who ran a drama workshop in Malvern during the summer.

Locations in the film include places in Malvern and Ledbury and five local children are among the cast, Louis Packham, Charley Duddy, Lily and Zak Shervington and Ralph Sharp.

Alex, who works as a freelance for film production companies in London, said it was her first film and it was inspired by two memorable little girls, Alice and Matilda Dyson, who she met two summers ago, and who are now the stars of her film.

None of the children or any other members of the cast had any acting experience, Alex explained, adding that the film worked because she was lucky to find people who were perfect for the roles.

Judith Neith, who plays the recluse was found after Alex placed an advert in the Malvern Gazette.

Alex has entered the 20 minute film into a number of film festivals and is hoping it will get plenty lof exposure. It is also available on DVD from www.pixielated.co.uk.

The film screening is at 7pm.
