MASTER illusionist Derren Brown is joining the line up of famous names at this year’s Cheltenham Literature Festival next month.

He will be presenting his hilarious Confessions of a Conjuror and discussing his obsession with magic and the amazing journey that is his life so far.

He joins actors Simon Pegg and Maureen Lipman, politicians Alistair Darling and Peter Mandelson and writers Salman Rushdie and Rose Tremain at the annual festival which runs from October 8-17.

The theme of the festival this year is Dreams and Nightmares and there will be talks on vampires, angels, gods and monsters, from Frankenstein and Dracula to H G Wells. Horror, Utopian and future fiction are all in the programme.

The festival offers cutting-edge debate and inspiring authors and on a lighter note there are entertaining talks by Stephen Fry, Jo Brand and Michael Parkinson. There are some special poetry events and fun talks aimed at children by leading children’s authors like Judith Kerr, Darren Shan, Cathy Cassidy and Tony Ross.
