THE Barron Knights - who toured with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones - are embarking on an international tour and will be stopping in Malvern on Friday, May 28.

The Malvern Theatres Barron Knights concert is being sponsored by the Rotary Club who are donating all profits from the show to local charities.

When the Barron Knights toured with the Beatles and the Stones in 1963/64 it was a massive boost to their career. Thirty world tours followed as did 300 shows at the London Palladium, five royal shows, including one at Buckingham Palace, performances at the Royal Albert Hall and two shows for the troops in the Falklands. The band have sold 11 million records worldwide.

The 50th anniversary tour show will include their top hits as well as the songs that have made up the sound track of the band’s life. Knight Pete Langford will also play some classical pieces on the guitar.

The programme will include the much-requested William Tell Overture and the Flamenco piece Malaguena. The Barron Knights have always been known for their harmonies and their three-part harmonised version of Paul MacCartney’s song Blackbird is particularly popular.

The Barron Knights will also tell some of their best anecdotes from their time in the business.

The Barron Knights Malvern concert is at 7.30pm and tickets cost from £12. Call 01684 892277.
