THE powerhouse of the future is sustainable energy, local business leaders and entrepreneurs have been told at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern.

Helen Taylor of energy business Ecotricity was speaking at the Big Breakfast business event organised by Bruton Knowles, with support from Harrison Clark Rickerbys and Three Counties.

She said that Ecotricity now has more than 185,000 customers and is known for having the lowest number of customer complaints in the industry for six years in a row, according to regulator Ofgem. It is also linked with Forest Green Rovers football club in Gloucestershire, aiming to make the club truly sustainable.

She gave business leaders and entrepreneurs an insight into the challenges the firm has faced in establishing itself as a leader in the field, and the latest developments in its use of clean energy, including the Electric Highway car-charging network, and its plans for an eco-park and sun parks.

The event,. attended by more than 100 business people, included a lively question-and-answer session, part of the popular format which enables successful businesses from across the three counties to share valuable insights into their own vision and ambitions for the future.

Angus Taylor of Bruton Knowles said: “What a fantastic way to end our 2016 breakfast programme with Ecotricity showing where there is a will there is another way. Ecotricity has made that a reality with green energy now a real viable alternative for homes and business.”

Ken Nottage, CEO of Three Counties, said: “It’s been a pleasure to have Helen here at Three Counties, telling us about Ecotricity’s vision for the future. We’re delighted with the success of the Three Counties Business Breakfasts in 2016 and are looking forward to another informative year of breakfast networking events in 2017.”
